A licensed massage therapist will always practice industry guideline draping techniques. Draping is where the massage therapist folds and tucks the towel or sheet around your body, only exposing the areas to be worked on. Many regular clients prefer to be fully undressed with draping. If you feel more comfortable leaving your loose-fitting underwear on, that is totally fine -- and you will still be draped. To access certain areas such as the back or glutes, removing your bra strap and/or removing undergarments (with draping) will help the massage therapist work these muscles at a greater depth.
During a sports recovery massage where the goal isn’t necessarily to put you into a tranquil state, we highly recommend our client’s to be in sports attire. For women, a sports bra with minimal coverage of the back is recommended with biker shorts. For men, shorts are recommended with the option to be in a tank top or being shirtless.
Many new clients, particularly those who have never had a massage before, may be anxious for their first massage appointment. At Aliviar, we strive to make your experience a positive one.
Before providing massage services, a licensed massage therapist will conduct a thorough health assessment with you. This essential factor allows the massage therapist to better understand your needs and provide the safest massage services possible. Under HIPPA guidelines, all information given to the massage therapist is confidential and may only be released to your doctor with your written permission.
Please be ready 10-15 minutes before your scheduled appointment time, to give the therapist time to set up and start the massage promptly. We are unable to go over the scheduled end time due to subsequent bookings.
One of Aliviar’s goals is soft tissue mobilization. If muscles have been tight for so long, it’s normal to feel a bit sore for up to 3 days after a massage.
Everyone’s recovery process and goals vary, but at the same time, we always reassure clients that the body responds well to consistency. It is highly suggested that you receive a massage whether it’s to decrease stress, or recover from intense physical activity at least twice a month.
A massage can help by reducing stress, chronic pain, immobility while regaining proper blood circulation, nerve function, and range of motion.
While we are a mobile massage service, we only ask of you to grant our therapist with sufficient working space to provide a wonderful experience.
You are not required to give gratuity, but it is always appreciated.
Cupping Therapy and Graston Technique is implemented into every service at no additional cost. Both will be explained prior to starting the session!
Cupping Therapy may be a bit uncomfortable if you're trying it for the first time. It may not be. Once accustomed to the feeling of cupping which usually takes anywhere from 3-5 minutes, it can be quite relaxing and relieving. The amount of suction can be adjusted at ANY time during the session.
Graston Technique can be quite relaxing on the body. It does not hurt, but can always be stopped at ANY time during the session.
